Gema inspired her community clean up the neighborhood park to provide a safe place for the children in her community to play.

Gema's Quick Tips:

  • Go door-to-door to round up volunteers and donations.
  • Meet at a community center. Write down what needs to be done to clean up your park.
  • Meet with local police about getting rid of gangs or criminals
  • Don’t wait for city leaders to fix the problem with support or funding. Have a garage or bake sale to buy the paint and concrete. Fix the problem yourself.
  • Now use your new park by starting a walking group or exercise sessions.
