What motivated you to join the Youth Advisory Board?

I’m motivated to share my love of physical activities with others so they can have amazing experiences like hiking through a Costa Rican rain forest, or scuba diving at Catalina Island, or hiking up a volcano in Hawaii.

What barriers do youth face when trying to live a healthy lifestyle?

Availability, cost, and time are the most difficult obstacles to overcome when trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Fast food is cheap, on every street corner, and fast, whereas fruits and organic foods are much more expensive.

Why is it important that youth have a voice in the fight against childhood obesity?

It is important to me because I do not want anyone to be incapable of doing something they want to because they are overweight. Also, people just feel better when they are in good shape. It is important to be healthy in both body and mind (psychological issues as a result of obesity are a major issue as well).

What’s your greatest accomplishment so far in creating a healthier generation?

My greatest accomplishment so far has been speaking at the event with Chelsea Clinton and helping convince or keep patrons funding the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.

If you could make one healthy change in your school or community, what would it be?

I would change the fact that in my community kids would rather sit inside with an electronic device all day than go outside and do something active.
