What motivated you to join the Youth Advisory Board?

I am a part of a health and wellness club as well as an ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60 so I thought being on the Youth Advisory Board would be a perfect fit for me as I continue to inspire others (as well as myself) to be healthy.

What barriers do youth face when trying to live a healthy lifestyle?

I think a barrier that the youth face when trying to live a healthy lifestyle is that there are fast food joints at every corner. It’s hard to eat healthfully when you are provided with lots of junk food.

Why is it important that youth have a voice in the fight against childhood obesity?

It is important for the youth to have a voice in the fight against childhood obesity because it is our issue and we should be the ones who help fix and prevent it.

What’s your greatest accomplishment so far in creating a healthier generation?

My greatest accomplishment in creating a healthier generation so far has been becoming healthy with my family and becoming a state ambassador for Fuel Up to Play 60.

If you could make one healthy change in your school or community, what would it be? 

If I could make one healthy change in my school, I would stop selling cookies and chips at lunch and sell granola bars and yogurt instead.
