Partnership for a Healthier America Out-of-School Time Commitments

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation is excited to support the work of the Partnership for a Healthier America and the commitments made by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National Recreation and Park Association.

Working directly with Clubs and sites across the country, the Alliance will provide the evidence-based process, resources and tools needed to increase access to healthier foods and physical activity and empower the young people they serve to develop lifelong, healthy habits.

We started piloting our work in out-of-school time in 2011, a natural expansion of our early success in the school environment—where we now support healthy changes in more than 20,000 schools across the United States.

The Alliance’s work in the out-of-time environment currently reaches 32,000 young people, supporting hundreds out-of-school time providers in their efforts to create healthier conditions for the young people they serve.

Congratulations to the Partnership for a Healthier America, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the National Recreation and Park Association on this important step in the fight against childhood obesity.

We look forward to sharing the best practices we have learned with thousands of Boys & Girls Clubs and park and recreation sites across the country— as we work together to build a healthier generation.
