9 Steps to Smart Snacks
It’s week four of our Swap Your Snack Countdown and it’s time to talk implementation.
Implementing USDA Smart Snacks in Schools Standards is a process. It’s one that includes a la carte items, vending machines, snack carts, school stores and in-school fundraisers. And it’s a process that is going to take a collective effort from staff all across the school building. With all that to consider, implementation can come off as a little intimidating. Let’s change that.
We teamed up with the School Nutrition Association to launch a series of tools for Smart Snacks that includes a step-by-step guide to get started, plug-and-play presentations to educate different audiences, taste testing tools to engage students, sample newsletters to spread the word with parents and community members, and training materials for cafeteria staff.
Whether you are taking big steps or baby steps toward implementing Smart Snacks, here is a roadmap for your travels.
Help us spread the word on school success and tools for schools to use for new Smart Snacks standards. Below are premade tweets you can copy, paste and share from your Twitter account.
