Hop to Health with Peter Rabbit
The globally beloved Peter Rabbit character is the star of a new health and wellness initiative, Hop to Health. This new campaign is brought to you by a partnership between the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, the National AfterSchool Association, Nickelodeon and Penguin Young Readers. The highlight of the campaign is a new book On Your Mark, Get Set, Hop!
Hop to Health is based on five simple principles:
- Eat your fruits and vegetables with every meal, including snacks.
- Get up, move and sweat every day.
- Sleep for at least 9 hours every night.
- Drink water every day.
- Get outside and play! Cut down on the time you spend watching TV or playing on the computer.
Families are encouraged to visit the Peter Rabbit website to find fun activities and a discussion guide.
If you’re an afterschool educator you may even see the new book, On Your Mark, Get Set, Hop! arrive at your out-of-school site. 60,000 free copies will be distributed to more than 300 out-of-school providers across the country. Sites receiving copies will also get posters and placemats to send home with children.
Out-of-school time staff should visit the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Healthy Out-of-School Time blog for ideas they can implement in conjunction with the campaign.
Have some fun with Peter.
