CEO Dr. Howell Wechsler Joins NRPA Board of Directors

Park and Recreation Agencies are essential to the health of a community, providing valuable opportunities for youth and families to be more active and form lifelong healthy habits.

That is one of the many reasons I’m proud to join the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Board of Directors.

NRPA is a leader in promoting healthy, active lifestyles. Parks and Recreation agencies across the country provide youth and families the opportunity to get outdoors and develop a lifetime appreciation for being outside and enjoying nature.

NRPA is also a leader in promoting equitable access to parks and public spaces, which is critical to ensuring that kids and families, especially those with fewer resources, have equal access to the environments that promote healthy living.

Through our partnership, NRPA has also expanded the Alliance’s Healthy Out-of-School Time Initiative by allowing us to help build healthier environments for over 200,000 youth.

Partnering with NRPA has been critical to our mission of helping more youth-serving programs meet national standards for healthy eating and physical activity and is helping hundreds of thousands of children lead their healthiest, happiest lives.
