Early Childhood

The Early Care and Education Collaborative

In 2016-2017, Healthier Generation launched an Early Care and Education (ECE) Collaborative in partnership with the American Heart Association and Nemours.

Together, we are virtually implementing Healthy Way to Grow, an early care and education initiative, which improves practices and policies that will create healthier environments for kids, in two Pennsylvania and Wisconsin communities.

We are helping ECE centers in these two communities:

  • Build support for healthier environments

  • Assess the health of their environments and identify areas of improvement

  • Create action plans that address health gaps

We also are providing professional development to staff, to train them to implement Healthy Way to Grow and meet their wellness goals.

Training and technical assistance is provided by Healthier Generation, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and the Wisconsin Healthy Kids Collaborative.

Upon completion of the pilot in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, we look forward to virtually offering Healthy Way to Grow in more U.S. cities.
