Nancy Brenowitz Katz MS, RDN serves as the Senior Director of Content and Partnerships and the Interim National Nutrition Advisor. In these roles, she provides technical assistance and professional development and develops best practice resources to improve the nutrition environment in schools, out-of-school time sites, and the community. Nancy provides guidance both internally and externally on matters related to federal nutrition policy and programs, Smart Snacks in Schools, food access and food insecurity, and general nutrition. Nancy has also overseen the update and development of Healthier Generation's model district policies.

Prior to coming to the Alliance for Healthier Generation, Nancy worked at the Office of the State Superintendent of Education in Washington, DC, where she oversaw grants and support for DC schools as they implemented the DC Healthy Schools Act of 2010. She directed work in the areas of school nutrition services and environment, wellness policies, physical and health education, physical activity, farm to school and school gardens.

Nancy has worked as both a clinical and community dietitian and served as the Undergraduate Dietetics Program Director at the University of Maryland for 10 years. Nancy continues to teach at local community colleges and universities and co-chaired the School Wellness Committee at Ashburton Elementary School in Bethesda, MD for five years.
