About the Innovation Award for Health Care Provider Training and Education
America’s health care professionals are not prepared to consistently deliver effective counseling on maintaining a healthy weight, diet, and physical activity level, despite staggering rates of obesity and related chronic diseases. The Innovation Award for Health Care Provider Training and Education recognizes health professional training programs that are ahead of the curve in providing nutrition and physical activity education to their students. This award spotlights the leadership of inventive educational models from all health disciplines, and serves to inspire others with examples of what can be achieved. Awardees will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise at the Healthy Kitchens, Healthy Lives Conference in Napa, CA February 8-11, 2018.
The award is jointly hosted by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation (Healthier Generation) in association with our co-founding partners, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC). Two awards will be given:
- Schools or programs offering innovative training for future health care professionals
- Schools or programs offering innovative professional development or graduate training for current health care professionals.
