Active Learning

Research shows that physical activity leads to improved academic performance and improved concentration. Why not combine learning with movement?

Our friends at Eat Smart Move More North Carolina have developed a series of classroom physical activities integrated with academic concepts called AfterSchool Energizers. The short 10-minute activities are broken down by grade level.

Try an Activity

“Air Writing” is an activity for the K-2 grade level and can be done standing behind a desk or in small groups. The leader calls out a spelling word, letter or shape and children draw the word, letter or shape in the air using their arm, leg, head or waist.
