Putting Policy into Practice

After your wellness committee has revised and strengthened your wellness policy, it is time to take action at your school. Wellness policies are living documents, so this includes reviewing and evaluating your policy regularly to keep track of the goals you have completed and continue to set new goals. By following the steps below, you can ensure your policy is implemented and updated successfully.

STEP 1:

Join the Healthy Schools Program

If you haven’t already, join the Healthy Schools Program and assess your school using the School Health Index.

STEP 2:

Connect with Experts

Visit the The Wellness Policy Place  to ask questions to our experts, and share solutions with administrators, school staff, schools board members, out-of-school time staff and more from across the nation.  

STEP 3:

Ask for Help

Contact our Member Engagement and Support Team to speak with a Member Engagement and Support Manager about your wellness priorities and receive individualized guidance.

STEP 4:

Seek Trainings

Visit our Training Center to learn about online training opportunities that will support your school wellness policy implementation.

STEP 5:

Master Implementation and Reporting

Make implementation and reporting seamless using our Healthy Schools Program.

You’ve done all the hard work, now it’s time to share your results by evaluating your policy implementation and communicating your successes.
