When Principal Quigley from Miami Springs Middle School was introduced to the Healthy Schools Program at the summer Forum at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, transforming her school health environment was not top of her priority list. After her experience at the Forum, though, she was compelled to make a serious commitment to this issue in her school.
Dr. Quigley and her school wellness council helped make over her school vending machines by replacing soda with water and 100% fruit juice, her cafeteria by replacing white flour with wheat, her staff by implementing a thriving school employee wellness campaign and her students with a revised school schedule to include more physical education classes throughout the day!
