The Walking Classroom

The Walking Classroom is an award-winning, evidence-based education program that supports students’ health and learning. The program is simple: Students take a brisk walk while listening to standards-aligned, educational podcasts that are supported by lesson plans, comprehension quizzes, and supplemental activities on a pre-loaded mobile audio device and app.

The Walking Classroom offers a school year’s worth of podcasts on English language arts, social studies, and science. The program increases physical activity, engages different learning styles, addresses learning loss, supports social-emotional learning, and builds health literacy. But kids just think it’s fun!

Formerly a separate nonprofit organization, The Walking Classroom joined Healthier Generation in 2022. Its mission—to help strengthen the physical, mental, and academic health of children—complements Healthier Generation’s approach to whole child health, supporting kids’ well-being in school and at home.
