Out-of-School Time

Out-of-school time settings, such as academic, athletic, or multi-purpose programs and off-campus community learning centers or recreation centers, are great places to teach or reinforce healthy habits.

Healthier Generation’s Healthy-Out-of-School Time Initiative can help you create stimulating, healthy environments that help kids eat better and move more in ways that support their social, emotional, and academic development. Guided by the latest research, best practices in youth development, and lessons learned from local implementation, Healthier Generation offers you a framework to create lasting change.  Created in partnership with the National Afterschool Association’s Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards 2.0, the Healthy Out-of-School Time Assessment will help you track what you are already doing to support health and wellness at your site as well as highlight opportunities for growth and improvement. Want to see the assessment on paper before you get started on the digital assessment?  Download the National AfterSchool Association’s new downloadable Self-Assessment Tool
