Alliance for a Healthier Generation is bringing The Walking Classroom, an award-winning, evidence-based educational program that helps students stay active while learning, to Wonderful College Prep Academy (WCPA) campuses in Delano and Lost Hills, California. The program’s expansion is made possible through a Wonderful Community Grant, supporting active learning opportunities for WCPA students through engaging after-school programming.

“This collaboration marks an exciting expansion of access to The Walking Classroom, bringing new opportunities to students in California,” said Jonathan Wallace, VP of strategic alliances at Healthier Generation. “It represents a pivotal moment for the Central Valley, building on the strong ecosystem that Wonderful College Prep Academy has created and continues to strengthen.”

This investment includes the distribution of 180 WalkKits, an audio device with educational lessons, reaching more than 350 students annually. The device enables students to walk while listening to curriculum-aligned podcasts covering language arts, social studies, and science topics, integrating physical activity with academic instruction.

“Through Wonderful Community Grants, we support local initiatives that are creating healthier, stronger communities across the Central Valley,” said Andy Anzaldo, chief operating officer of corporate social responsibility at The Wonderful Company. “By expanding access to innovative programs like The Walking Classroom, we help students build healthy habits, stay engaged in learning, and develop skills that can benefit them for life.”

Founded by Lynda and Stewart Resnick, co-owners of The Wonderful Company, WCPA operates two free, state-of-the-art TK–12 public charter schools serving approximately 2,400 students across Delano and Lost Hills. Through its community school model, WCPA prioritizes whole-child development by integrating health, wellness, family engagement, and academic support services that help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

The Walking Classroom builds on WCPA’s broader commitment to creating a culture of health and wellness across its campuses, complementing existing initiatives that support physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and drive positive student outcomes.
