In celebration of National School Breakfast Week, Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Pittsburgh Public Schools, Del Monte Foods, and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh teamed up to host a fun and educational recipe tasting event for kids in Pittsburgh, Pa.

On March 5, students at Pittsburgh Minadeo PreK-5, a public elementary school in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood, sampled a delicious roasted fruit recipe prepared by the school food service with product donated by Del Monte Foods.

The School Breakfast Program supports students’ physical, mental, and social-emotional health. The Food Research & Action Center reports that consistent access to school meals is linked to improvements in attendance rates and student behavior, as well as reduced anxiety and depression among students.

Thank you to our partners at Del Monte Foods, Pittsburgh Public Schools, and UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for their support and collaboration! Learn more about our work to promote nutrition and food access at schools with Del Monte Foods at healthiergeneration.org/delmontefoods.
