Healthier Generation Appoints Mary Ann Bauman, MD, Chairperson of Board of Directors; Welcomes Jane Park to Board

Bauman brings deep public health expertise and a focus on organizational sustainability; Park adds strategic partnership experience and a commitment to early childhood health equity

National children’s health organization Alliance for a Healthier Generation has appointed Mary Ann Bauman, MD, as chairperson of its board of directors. Dr. Bauman is a primary care internist who has served on Healthier Generation’s board of directors since June 2024 and brings nearly 40 years of public health experience to this role.

Healthier Generation is also pleased to welcome Jane Park, Senior Content Strategist at Google, as a new board member. Jane leads Google’s efforts to create high-quality online experiences for children and families, driving content partnerships with product teams and external partners. Her work focuses on meeting children’s core developmental needs while supporting parents and educators with tools to help kids navigate the online world safely and confidently.

“As Healthier Generation celebrates 20 years of progress, we’re moving into the future with a renewed commitment to ensure every young person is healthy and ready to succeed,” says CEO Kathy Higgins. “With Jane’s expertise and Dr. Bauman’s leadership, our board is poised to guide us through this pivotal moment in our organization’s history with courage and conviction.”

Before joining Google, Jane served as Director of Too Small to Fail, the early childhood initiative of the Clinton Foundation, where she led partnerships to scale a national campaign promoting children’s brain and language development. She previously held the role of Associate Director of Content in the Education, Research, and Outreach department at Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street. In addition to her leadership roles, Jane authored numerous publications to support parents and caregivers through challenging situations, including military deployment, natural disasters, and economic and food insecurity.

“As a long-time admirer of Healthier Generation, I’m honored to join its board of directors,” says Jane Park. “My work with Google, Too Small to Fail, and Sesame Workshop has deepened my appreciation for the equitable, whole child health approach at the core of Healthier Generation’s mission. I look forward to advancing this mission alongside my fellow board members.”

Healthier Generation thanks retiring board member Maria Echaveste, former Deputy White House Chief of Staff, who brought invaluable expertise in education, civil rights, and food access during her four-year tenure on Healthier Generation’s board.
