Activating the Nation’s Schools and Families to Eradicate Vaping

Schools and districts nationwide are challenged with creating vape-free and tobacco-free campuses that support the health, well-being and academic success of the next generation.

Healthier Generation, in partnership with the CVS Health Foundation and the American Heart Association (AHA) launched the Tobacco-Free Schools Initiative to strengthen school policies that support tobacco-free environments and the use of restorative practices to curb tobacco use.

At a time when tobacco usage is high due to prolonged feelings of stress, anxiety, and grief, the Tobacco-Free Schools Initiative will help districts across the country effectively create or enhance a tobacco-free culture of health. The Tobacco-Free District Model Policy and evidence-based resources aim to reinforce supportive learning environments that center tobacco cessation and prevention to improve the health of students.

Healthier Generation’s Action Center provides access at no cost to:

  • Tobacco-Free District Model Policy that promotes supportive disciplinary practices and alternatives to suspension

  • Tobacco-Free District Assessment that helps districts identify opportunities to update or strengthen their current tobacco policies and practices.

  • Technical assistance and support to guide leaders in creating sustainable change

  • On-demand webinars to help educators grow and sustain a tobacco-free culture of health

  • Evidence-based strategies and resources
